The Nidaros Foundation began its work in Krakow, Poland in 2018. The original focus was on supporting individuals arriving from Russian-occupied Ukraine by helping them formalize their stay in Poland, secure housing, translate documents, and find employment.
Our mission shifted overnight when war broke out on February 24, 2022. We redirected all resources to provide immediate support to refugees and civilians affected by the conflict. Within days, we established a temporary refugee assistance center, sheltering 50 people daily and quickly expanding to over 70. We were also able to secure housing for an additional 130 people, fully funded by the efforts of the Nidaros Foundation. In just two months, we were able to help more than 3,000 individuals find shelter across Poland and other countries such as France, Italy, and Germany.
But we didn’t stop at just helping those who had to flee across the border. Being less than 3 hours away from the western border of Ukraine, our volunteers and friends of the Foundation began to regularly travel deep into Ukraine to deliver life-saving humanitarian aid. With payloads of up to 3.5 tons, our shipments include food, medicine, first aid supplies, generators, and clean water. Our efforts have been able to reach even the most remote and underserved communities. Our teams brave harsh terrain and hostile territory to provide critical support where others cannot go.
Each and every donation makes an impact! Through these funds, we are able to continue to feed the hungry, help heal the sick, and offer hope to those who have lost everything. Through this work, we remain steadfast in our belief: no one should be left behind.
